Brevard County has a 40 bed secure facility to house all youth who are detained for adjudication, disposition, or who are being committed to a facility. Most of the youth will remain in the facility for an average of 11 days, which will require missed school so the local schools will provide classes during the weekdays that are mandatory to attend. Also provided are mental health and counseling services, addictions treatments, general education, life skills education, social skills and interactions, and other programs to encourage responsibility, accountability, and healthy decisions. Families are encourged to remain in contact frequently to receive updates as well as to work towards family reunification, and they may be requested to attend some counseling or other sessions with their child. This facility is secure and operated in a safe manner, with staff present in each housing unit around the clock. Mail: Mail is permitted, both to be sent and received in correctly addressed envelopes with a full return address that is sent through the US Postal Service. No other forms of delivery are accepted, and all mail will be checked for contraband, inappropriate content, and language before it is passed to the receiver. 5225 Dewitt Avenue Cocoa, FL 32927 Phones: Phones are provided for phone calls to lawyers, probation officers, and others, as well as weekly calls to parents and guardians. Calls will not be permitted to other detention centers, to those who are on probation, or people who are not on the approved call list. Visitation: Visitation days and times are provided for all parents and guardians to visit their youth while they are housed at this location. Other visitors require special approval before they can schedule a visit. Wednesday visiting hours are 7pm to 8pm, Saturday is 1pm to 2pm, and Sunday is 7pm to 8pm.

Any magazines that contain profanity, weapons, pornography or other content that is adult in nature will be confiscated by the jail staff and will NOT be delivered to the inmate.

Books
The Brevard Juvenile Detention Center allows books to be mailed directly to the jail from a reputable source such as AmazonBarnes & Noble or Books-A-Million. You can order them directly from your computer and have them shipped to the inmate at the address noted.
Books must NOT contain images or content that are considered excessively violent, pornographic or obscene. Any book that does not meet the Brevard Juvenile Detention Center standards will be disposed of.
