Visitation hours (all done by video, either at the jail or from your home computer) at the Alachua County Jail in Florida are available every day and must be pre-scheduled 24 hours in advance. Inmates are allowed two 45-minute onsite video visits each week, which must also be scheduled in advance. Alachua County Jail in Florida has rules and regulations for inmates to follow.   • First, you must register for visitation with Securus.
  • All visits must be scheduled 24 hours in advance.
  • There are different visitation hours allowed with inmates when you visit using the video booths at the Alachua County Jail.  It all depends on where the inmate is housed. You will be given the options after you log in.
  • Current Visitation hours for on-site Video Visits are found below. Following that are the visit hours if you visit from your home computer or phone.
  • on-site Video Visit Sessions can be two 1-hour sessions with a total of 2 visitors per session.
  • Children under 24 months of age do not count toward the number of allowed visitors and must be supervised by an adult at all times.
  • Visitors must follow the dress code posted in the Lobby and will not be allowed to visit if in violation. The essence of the Dress Code is dress professional and non-seductive. Dress as if you were visiting someone's grandmother for the first time.
  • Visitors may only visit one inmate per day and are only permitted to visit the inmate they have signed up to visit.
  • Government issued photo ID is equired.

Video Visitation allows 'approved' friends, family members, attorneys and clergy of an inmate to connect with them using their computer, Securus Video Visitation app, or ‘on-site’ kiosk.

What is the Cost of a Remote Video Visit?
Costs vary and are subject to change, but generally visits range from $5.00 to $15.00 for a 15 to 30 minute online or on-site video visit.

How do you know if your Inmate will be available during the time you schedule?
The Securus system knows the times that Alachua County Jail inmates are available for remote video visits.
It will not allow you to schedule a visit with your inmate if they are not available or the video visitation kiosk(s) in the jail are booked already.
Once you schedule a visit with your inmate they will be notified of the date and time of the visit.

Important Tips:

Postcards
The Alachua County Jail ONLY allows inmates to receive pre-metered postcards like the type purchased from the post office unless noted otherwise.

  • Minimum size: 3.5 Inches by 4.25 inches. Maximum size: 4.25 inches by 6 inches.
  • Postcards mailed with a stamp will be rejected.
  • It is best to only use blue or black ink.
  • Always include your name and return address.

Magazines
News, special interest or sports magazines may also be mailed to an inmate as long as they are shipped directly from the publisher. Any magazines that contain profanity, weapons, pornography or other content that is adult in nature will be confiscated by the jail staff and will NOT be delivered to the inmate.

Books
The Alachua County Jail allows books to be mailed directly to the jail from a reputable source such as AmazonBarnes & Noble or Books-A-Million. You can order them directly from your computer and have them shipped to the inmate at the address noted.
Books must NOT contain images or content that are considered excessively violent, pornographic or obscene. Any book that does not meet the Alachua County Jail standards will be disposed of. 
Hard cover books will not be accepted by the jail due to their potential to be used as a weapon.
