About the Morgan County Detention Center

Located directly next to the Fort Morgan Police and surrounded by new development on one side and the edge of town on the other, the 117-bed is located in the same sprawling building as the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office as well as the courthouse.

It is within the Morgan County Detention Center that all offenders arrested on either misdemeanors or felonies throughout Morgan County are housed both as they wait for their trial and as they serve a short sentence, wait for transfer to a larger location, or remain until their bond is paid. An inmate listing is available online to access at any time, and staff are able to respond to concerns, to answer questions, and explain procedures by you calling 970-542-3455.

It is at this location that offenders are booked and processed, and will undergo an assessment to determine housing assignment, medical care, mental health support, programs that will be beneficial, and they will receive all of the regulations and rules of the facility.

All inmates are provided with a commissary account that they are able to access to make purchases including hygiene, personal items, snacks, and other items to improve their comfort. Money may be added to this account by anyone who knows the offender and is not incarcerated through an online program.

Money may also be added to their phone account, which allows offenders to make daily outgoing calls to remain in contact with their family members, with their friends, and their legal representatives. It is through the phone account that visits may be booked for video visitation, and the schedule that is available for the offender will be displayed after an approved visitor creates an account and adds the offender.

Additionally, mail is delivered and picked up each weekday by the postal service and it must have the full name and address of the sender, or it will not be accepted.

Personal mail is delivered to a third party where it will be opened, checked for contraband, and then scanned to be digitally delivered to the inmate at:
