The Youth Facility for the Tulare County Probation Department not only functions for youth who have been detained but also those who are engaged with other programs. Home supervision is operated through this location and allows for youth who are not violent and who are facing low risk charges will be permitted the opportunity to serve their sentence at home with a GPS tracker to follow their location. Any youth who do require detention will be waiting for their court dates or they will be serving a length of detention determined at a sentencing hearing. During their stay they will be provided with regular classes from the local school board as well as mental health support, counseling, medical care, anger management classes, and much more. The focus of the probation department is to prevent youth from reoffending and to reduce the number of youths who require detention by providing all students with the skills they need for a successful life. Mail: Students may receive mail through the US Postal Service, but no letters or other mail may be dropped off at the facility in any other way. There must be no contraband, including drugs, alcohol, or conversations about illegal activity within the mail for it to be delivered. A full return address must be included on the envelope. Phones: Telephones are available during the approved hours for youth to contact their parents and their legal guardians, as well as their legal team. Incoming calls are not permitted. Visitation: Visits may be scheduled to occur during the provided visiting hours, which will vary dependent upon the schedule for the housing unit as well as the person schedule of the student.

  • You must wait 45 days after being released from custody before you can visit an inmate. This waiting period applies to visits with members of your immediate family

  • No more than two people at visiting station, excluding infants. If there are more than two approved visitors you may choose how to divide the time between the visitors.
