Housing up to 24 young offenders, both male and female, this is the main holding facility for all newly arrested juvenile offenders in the area. Youth may also be found in this facility if they are waiting for a trial, during their trial, and if they are sentenced to a term of detention. When managing youth there are strict regulations that must be followed, including their education, which is provided within the facility by the school board, ensuring all medical needs are met, providing mental health support as needed, and there is an availability of substance abuse treatments. Programs have been created that allow for all students to have access to their needed education, including access to college classes as needed, and education plans for anyone who needs extra help or tutoring. Students are encouraged to grow in their social skills, to learn new life skills, and engage in positive social interactions. These each prepare them for reintegrating into their community after their sentence has been completed. Mail: Mail is permitted, it must have a full address and return address, and be free of contraband. PO Box 1256, Weaverville, CA, 96093. Phones: Telephones are available during free hours, or during recreation time, and they may call their parents or guardians during this time. Parents will not be able to call the facility and reach their children but may call and ask questions related to their detention. Visitation: Visits are a key part of the successful rehabilitation of youth offenders and visiting hours are provided each week. Parents or guardians may contact the facility directly to schedule their visit.
