Tehama County Juvenile Hall Information

Tehama County Juvenile Hall houses up to 50 juvenile offenders not only from Tehama County but also from the counties of Lake, Glenn, Lassen, Plumas, and Siskiyou. These contracts allow other counties to contribute to the facility and use it as needed to house their own young offenders. Oaks Court School operates within the facility under the operation of the school board and covers all subjects including language arts, math, science, social studies, history, and art. Those who have graduated from high school will participate in the STEP-UP program that assists students in ongoing education through a partnership with the local college. Topics include culinary arts, equipment operations, business, automotive, education, welding, and many more classes that will provide employment opportunities. A garden is in place to encourage youth to learn these additional skills and to spend time connecting with nature. The facility provides a well-rounded experience to address all issues that these young offenders may face to provide them with the best chance of success in the future. Mail: Students are permitted to both send and receive mail, provided it is free of contraband and includes a full return address. Phones: Phone calls can be made to approved phone numbers, most often to the parent or guardian, but also to other approved adults who are considered to be in a caretaker position. Only outgoing calls are allowed, and no incoming calls can be accepted. Phones are available during free hours. Visitation: Visitations is an important part of the program and parents, guardians, and other approved visitors are provided with visiting time each week. To schedule a visit the facility can be contacted directly.
