About the San Joaquin County Honor Farm

Having opened in 1949, the San Joaquin County Honor Farm has been remodeled and added to in order to make it suitable for use over the years. It houses both pretrial and sentenced inmates, and both male and female offenders. There are 493 beds and the majority of those are dormitory style, with a newer building from 1988 that has 124 single cells.

In dormitory style housing there is a large area that has lines of beds or bunkbeds and bathrooms attached with common areas for eating and other activities. Special needs housing is present for those who need them, and this allows for San Joaquin County Honor Farm to meet the needs of a wide variety of inmates.

It provides programs for education, life skills development, and social skills. Medical and mental health care are provided as needed and on an ongoing basis, with there being access to medical care around the clock.

Meals are healthy and served three times a day, and inmates are able to call their friends or family with phones in the common areas after an account has been created and funded.

Concerned loved ones can contact the facility to inquire if they are a resident at the location, or to share concerns over the health of an inmate, as well as questions about the programs operating.
