San Benito County Juvenile Hall Information

As the main facility for the correction and rehabilitation of youth in the county, the San Benito County Juvenile Hall houses all of the young offenders. Youth are held at this facility if they are waiting for a trial, are waiting for their sentencing, or if they have been sentenced to a term of incarceration. Designed to have an at home feel and to present a safe and secure location, the focus is on fostering responsibility for behaviors and accountability for decisions, as well as to encourage healing trauma. Programs are in place to encourage resiliency and to keep youth interacting with their community and developing strong ties to that community. One of the main programs is an incentive through Sacred Rok. It provides an opportunity to take day trips to a state park, overnight camping in national parks, and to experience nature in a way many won’t otherwise. Through journalling, poetry, and education, youth are encouraged to connect with themselves and the world they live in for successful and productive futures.
