Each of the jails in Riverside County has been plagued with drugs being smuggled in to inmates. Individuals are even known to get themselves arrested in order to bring drugs into the jail on their persons, and it can regularly go undetected. Even though there are efforts made with substance abuse programs and other programs to prepare inmates for reentry, inmates still overdose on drugs in this jail, particularly Fentanyl. Detection dogs are used to sniff out contraband, but weekly uses of NARCAN® (naloxone HCl) are still implemented by guards to revive inmates who have overdosed.
