Mendocino County Juvenile Hall Information

Mendocino County has a Juvenile Hall that can house up to and including 40 youths at any time. To achieve the best results and to support mental health of each of the youth, it is maintained as a home like environment rather than made to be reflected of an adult jail. Each student will be provided with school classes appropriate for their age and grade, nutritional meals, clothing, bedding, and hygiene items. While they are residents at the facility they will also receive medical care, both regular and standard care as well as any emergency or urgent care for illness or injury, mental health care and counselling, and all dental care that is required. Assessments are completed so that each youth will receive the full range of care that they require and the whole person is treated. Mendocino County Office of Education is responsible for providing school programs for residents and they will maintain their current grade for easy transition upon release. AA and NA meetings are provided and treatments are offered for any substance abuse concerns. Youth may be located here if they are detained waiting for a Juvenile Court proceeding, if they have been sentenced or committed to a short term stay, if they are waiting for foster placement, camp placement, or other placements to occur, and if they are determined to be a threat to their own safety or the safety of others. Visitation: Visits will be dependent upon the length of stay and the behavior of the resident but will be arranged with the facility to work with the schedule and routine of the facility and the resident specifically.
