Kings County Juvenile Center Information

Located in Hanford, California, the Kings County Juvenile Center is the main housing and holding facility for youth offenders who are facing criminal charges within the county. Each of the programs are intended to improve the social behaviors and the choices of the youth. They also aim to provide life skills and have the Office of Education to provide regular classes and to maintain their schooling during their stay. Additional programs are offered for faith based learning, arts, physical fitness, mental health, parenting, life skills, and other classes that are covered in schools as well as volunteering hours and opportunities to give back to the community. With a well-rounded approach to education and rehabilitation, as well as a focus on routines, discipline, and responsibility, when the juveniles leave this program they are prepared to return to their community and become a productive member of that community. Strict rules are enforced throughout the program, regardless of how long they remain in the program, and they may be present before they have had a court date and during any commitment they are sentenced too. Upon their arrival each student is provided a visit or phone call with their parents, and they are encouraged to remain in contact through mail, phones, and visits throughout their stay.
