Inyo County Juvenile Hall Information

Juvenile Probation and the Juvenile Hall both fall under the responsibility of the Inyo County Juvenile Division. These responsibilities include supervision of youth during court and case management, probation services, investigations and recommendations for the result of the trial and for consequences for the charges faced, treatment and intervention to improve family bonds and offer new skills and behaviors to both the juveniles and their families, early intervention, and detention services. A partnership with the local schools both encourages schools to reach out for early intervention and prevention, as well offer schooling to those who are being held in the juvenile hall so they do not fall behind their classes. In 2016 this facility was altered from a 24/7 detention unit to a Special Purpose Juvenile Hall and it now houses those who are sentenced to weekends for violating probation or other reasons. The Rehabilitation Specialists are responsible for monitoring them during the weekends and offering early intervention programs to the surrounding community and schools. Mail: Mail is no longer accepted at the facility as it is operational only on weekends. Phones: Phones are available as needed and youth can only call their parents or guardians during their stay. Visitation: Visitation is no longer necessary due to the decreased hours of operation.
