Located in Danville, Arkansas, the Yell County Juvenile Detention Center is considered to be a minimum to medium security facility and houses youth offenders who are under the age of 18. They are held in this facility while they are waiting for their court date, while they are waiting for their sentence, and if they are serving a sentence that includes incarceration. This is a small facility that has been in operation since the 1980s and is operated by the local Sheriff. It has a low maximum capacity, but the small building holds all of the local juvenile arrests throughout the process. Students will receive ongoing education from the local public school board to ensure they do not fall behind their classes. There is also treatment provided for any substance abuse that is present, recreation time, time for arts or crafts, and programs to assist in the transition back into the community at the end of their detention. Books and other publications can be provided directly from the publisher but may not be dropped off, though all prescription medication can be dropped off at any time.
