About the St. Francis County Detention Center

Housing up to 144 inmates, 20 female and 124 male, the St. Francis County Detention Center falls under the direction of the St. Francis County Sheriff’s Office. Along with the locally arrested offenders, both misdemeanor and felony, as they wait for their trial or serve their sentence. It also houses state inmates waiting to be transferred and Federal inmates waiting to be transferred to another state.

Booking information is available online and staff are available to answer some questions about an inmate, bail, and other procedures by calling 870-633-2611. Also listed are the recently released inmates, and each includes information on the charges and bail.  

A work release program allows inmates who qualify and are approved to keep their jobs outside of the jail and leave the campus each day to work and return at the end of their shift. By providing this opportunity, they are able to stay employed during incarceration and after, easing their return to the community and supporting their families with their pay cheques.

Phones that are located in housing pods are available for inmates to make outgoing collect calls, and are unable to accept incoming calls. In case of a family emergency or death the jail can be contacted at 870-633-2611 and they will have the inmate call as soon as possible.

They are also able to both send and receive mail, through a post office box, though it will be checked for a return address and any contraband will be denied or removed before it is given to the inmate.

  • Only those listed on an inmate's Visitation Form will be permitted to visit. Inmates are given this form when they are assigned a cell.
  • Visitors must have a current, valid photo identification (such as a driver's license) in order to visit.
  • All visitors, on their first visit, must complete a Visitor Information Form. They will then be checked to determine whether they have any outstanding warrants.
  • Visitors under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian who is on the approved list, do not need to be listed on an approved visitation list themselves.
  • Each inmate is allowed one hour of visitation per week on their assigned day and time. You must check with your inmate for this date and time.
  • Requests for exceptions and special requests must be forwarded through a Corrections Officer to a Shift Supervisor for approval.
  • A Shift Supervisor may extend visits by reason of distance traveled, past infrequent visits, or other reason.
