Built in 1982 the Sabastion County Juvenile Detention Center is operated by the Sheriff's Office for the county and houses all of the youth offenders from the county and surrounding communities. It houses close to 50 youth offenders at a time, and can access space with other counties if required, To ensure that youth do not fall behind their classes, teachers attend the facility and teach regular classes that are in line with the public school system. As part of caring for the mental health of the youth who are detained here, there is contact with immediate family permitted through phone calls and visits, and mail is allowed to be both sent and received. Counselling is available, as well as assistance with substance abuse, and classes are available to learn or develop new skills.
