Miller County Juvenile Detention Center Information

Due to funding and finance reasons, the Miller County Juvenile Detention Center has been closed to all juvenile offenders. The building was in operation for over 30 years before closing its doors in 2022. The facility and all programs were a joint venture from Miller County and the city of Texarkana, allowing them to house their juvenile offenders in this facility and sharing the financial and operational burden between the county and the city. Currently, youth offenders from either the city or from the surrounding Miller County are both transferred to the Pine Bluff facility, Jack Jones Justice Center. This justice center houses both the juvenile court and the detention facility, limiting the need for transportation and ensuring the safety and security of both the juveniles and the staff, as well as the surrounding community. While detained in that location they will have full access to all programs that are in place there, as well as the privileges that come from positive behavior and good choices. Mail: Jack Jones Juvenile Justice Center, 301 East Second Avenue, Pine Bluff AR 71601 Youth may receive and send mail while they are serving a sentence at this location, however those with short stays may not receive all mail that is sent due to the time they are present. Phones: Phones and phone calls to family are available for all of the juvenile offenders who are housed here, and they may lose or earn phone time through behavior and other choices. Visitation: Visits are permitted for attorneys and other professionals who are involved in the care of the youth, as well as the parents and guardians of the youth. These visits must be planned in advance and will occur only during the times that the detainee is available.
