Located in DeWitt, Arkansas, the Arkansas County Juvenile Detention Center mirrors the local adult facility in purpose and intent but has different approaches to correct behavior. Youth offenders are held at this location if they have been referred by law enforcement and charges are pending against them. They can be held until their court date, or they may be released to their family if they are determined to be likely to return for their court appointments. Those who have been determined unlikely to attend their court appointments will be held until their trial has been completed and their sentencing has been provided. If youth are sentenced to detention it will occur at this facility, where they will have all basic needs met. Meals are balanced and provided three times each day, medical treatment is available as needed and to manage regular prescription medications, and mental health is supported with counselling and any treatments required. School is an important part of any childhood and is necessary to build a successful life, so schoolwork is provided and licensed teachers will provide daily lessons that align with the local public school board to ensure they remain caught up on all lessons while being detained. There is also time for physical activity, recreation time, and social interactions to practice how to have positive interactions after release. Life skills are taught each day to help with the success of youth after they are released. Mail: Juvenile offenders are permitted to write and receive mail that is delivered by the US Postal Service, and they can have some pieces of mail in their rooms. All mail must be approved and free of contraband. Phones: One phone call each week is permitted to immediate family or guardians and additional time or calls may be earned with good behavior and following all rules and regulations. Visits: Visiting hours are provided based upon the schedule of the youth and their behavior. Visits may be suspended for behavioral concerns and only approved visitors may attend.

Inmate Money Accounts

How Do You Deposit Money for an Inmate in the Arkansas County Juvenile Detention?

There are three choices for putting money on an inmate's books:

Choice 1 - Dropping Money at the Jail

Bring money to the jail in person.

Jail personnel will process the Inmate Account payment.

Arkansas County Juvenile Detention has a Tiger Kiosk in the Lobby that accepts cash, debit or credit cards.

If you can't get your questions answered online call the Arkansas County Juvenile Detention at 870-946-4464.

Choice 2 - Deposit Inmate Money Online

Arkansas County Juvenile Detention and others often use a private company to process all online deposits to an inmate's account. The company charges you a small fee for doing so, but the fee probably isn't as much as gas and parking would cost to take it to the jail in person.

Go to the online site for depositing funds. You will need to register an account, which is free to do and use a debit/credit card for the deposits.

Choice 3 - Mail the Inmate Deposit to the Jail

Mailing a deposit takes more time to process than the other methods but can be done if you live too far away to bring it in person and you don't have a debit/credit card for online deposits. Never send cash. Always send a Money Order from the US Post Office, a reputable bank or Western Union.

Make the Money Order out to the inmate's name and put their Inmate ID# in memo section of the Money Order.

Call Arkansas County Juvenile Detention at 870-946-4464 to confirm the address to send the money order to and how they want it made out.

Failure to do this properly will delay your inmate getting his account credited and may require you to have to resubmit a second money order.

Call 870-946-4464 to ask facility personnel who to make the money order out to, and where to send it.
