The Gila County Jail is a 124 bed jail in the city of Globe, Gila County, Arizona. Offenders arrested for misdemeanors and felonies in this county are brought here for booking and processing, and if their crime requires it, are incarcerated until they either get bail or are released from custody on their own recognizance.
Gila County also has a substation jail in Payson, where inmates are kept usually no more than 72 hours.

⇓ Learn more ⇓ Show lessGila County Jail is a unique and historic facility located in Globe, Gila County. It was built in 1910 with doors and levers from the old territorial jail in Yuma. It is located at 1100 South Street Globe, AZ 85501 and is part of Globe’s Historic District.
Gila County also has a substation jail in Payson, where inmates are kept usually no more than 72 hours.
The jail has a bed capacity of 124 and is run and managed by the Sheriff's Department. The jail is supervised by 36 staff members and houses pre-trial prisoners and provides reintegration programming to male convicted criminals.
Inmates considered less of a security risk are housed on the third floor in an open dormitory with army cots instead of beds.
Operated by the Sheriff’s Office, the Gila County Jail has several departments including booking, commissary, transportation, food services, grievance, educational programming, laundry, and medical services. Each of these departments works together to provide the necessary services for inmates of all security levels and housing units.
Several services and methods of care are provided to all inmates including any medical care or mental health services that are required by the individual and each will receive three healthy meals each day of their incarceration and will have access to hygiene facilities and items along with time to care for themselves.
Optional programs are also in place including a work release program that allows inmates who are qualified and approved to maintain jobs outside of the facility provided they have transportation to and from and they must return each day at the end of their work shift to continue their sentence. There is a fee to this program that is paid every Sunday.
Inmates can purchase T-shirts, underwear, socks as well as writing paper, stamps, envelopes, snacks and hygiene items through through the jail. There is also an inmate roster available online for Gila County Jail. The phone contact number is 928-425-4449
Inmates are allowed two 45-minute onsite video visits each week, which must be scheduled in advance between 8:15am to 4pm Tuesday through Sunday. Visitation hours are from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m., and from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Inmates are allowed one free hour of visitation per week and can pay a quarter (25 cents) per minute for video visits longer than an hour. There is no visitation on Mondays and Tuesdays that follow holidays. Additionally, visitors can use the GettingOut Visits app or create their own visitor profile at gettingout.com in order to visit from a home computer.
Inmates can e-mail messages to friends and family for less than the cost of a postage stamp. The Gila County Jail Reconnections Program provides inmates with essential supportive services that help address their immediate needs.
The Gila County Sheriff's Office Jail operates and manages its own Inmate Commissary Store, where profits from commissary sales and telephone use are used to purchase items used by inmates.
All personal property is sealed when an inmate is booked into the jail and remains sealed until they are released. Funds from an inmate account may be released to a third party upon submission of an Inmate Request Form authorizing the release.
After an arrest, individuals are transported to Gila County Jail for the booking process. This procedure ensures the person’s identity, assesses charges, and determines if they will be released, eligible for bail, or detained until court.

Any magazines that contain profanity, weapons, pornography or other content that is adult in nature will be confiscated by the jail staff and will NOT be delivered to the inmate.
Books
The Gila County Jail allows books to be mailed directly to the jail from a reputable source such as Amazon, Barnes & Noble or Books-A-Million. You can order them directly from your computer and have them shipped to the inmate at the address noted.
Books must NOT contain images or content that are considered excessively violent, pornographic or obscene. Any book that does not meet the Gila County Jail standards will be disposed of.
Hard cover books will not be accepted by the jail due to their potential to be used as a weapon.
