About the Talladega County Jail

Talladega County Jail is the detention center for Talladega County and provides housing for all newly arrested detainees throughout the pre-trial period. Also housed here are overflow inmates from the state inmates, as well as some municipal detainees.

Currently Talladega County Jail has 485 beds including the medical area and the intake or booking spaces. Any questions about inmates, bail, and visitation or other concerns can be addressed to the facility at 256-761-2000.

Upon arrival part of the intake process is to remove personal property and provide jail clothing, accounting for every item and storing it to be returned upon their release, to address any immediate health, safety, or security concerns, provide hygiene products, and complete an assessment to ensure assignment to the correct housing unit.

Medical staff are onsite around the clock and a contract with local health care providers ensures a doctor is on call.

Mental health professionals provide counseling and rehabilitation care for all inmates who will benefit from it as well, and dental care is provided.

Purchases can be made from the commissary every week, with funding from family and friends or deposited in the kiosk in the lobby.

Mail can be sent to:

Inmate's Full Name & Inmate ID#
c/o Talladega County Jail
150 East Renfroe Road
Talladega, AL 35160

... with the name and ID number of the inmate and the full name and return address of the person who sent it, and it will be checked for adult content and any contraband.

Phones that are in the common areas allow inmates to call their friends or family, but they are unable to accept incoming calls, to call other detention locations, or to contact anyone involved in the case they are incarcerated for.

Visits are also provided, via video, for up to 30 minutes each day per inmate. A kiosk is provided next to the lobby of the jail for visits, and they can be accessed during the jail hours of 8am to 7pm every day.

Visitors must wear appropriate clothing, including shoes and shirts, and any violation of these restrictions may cause the visit to be cancelled or terminated. Inmates cannot accept incoming calls or make calls, but the supervisor can take incoming calls in case of an emergency.

Visitors can send mail to inmates and money to their commissary accounts, and there is an online jail population list for searching information about offenders incarcerated at Talladega County Jail.
