Sheboygan County Juvenile Detention Center Information

Both male and female young offenders in the county and surrounding communities are housed at the Sheboygan County Juvenile Detention Cetner. It is operated by the Corrections Division, though in a separate location from the adult facility and male and female youth are housed in different housing units. There is space for 27 within the East Wing of the Law Enforcement Center for the juvenile detention facility, and this space is only used for those for whom alternatives did not work. Before facing detention alternatives such as community school release, in home counseling, and home supervision have been unsuccessful. During detention school continues onsite and students are expected to attend each day, working towards credits at their home school and staying on pace with the public schools. All meals are provided and follow guidelines for school lunches and meal plans, and both recreational activities and physical education are provided each day. Positive social interactions are encouraged, and youth will develop new life skills through their engagement in offered programming. Medical care is provided whenever needed, and mental health support is in place to assist the youth in preparing for a productive future in their community with low recidivism rates.
