About the Laurens County Detention Center

The sheriff in Laurens County and his staff are also responsible for the operation of the Laurens County Detention Center, also known as the Johnson Detention Center, through the Detention Services Division.

This facility is focused on providing a safe, clean, and secure location for all pretrial inmates. It is an adult only facility and there is a juvenile facility for youth offenders. This is not a long term holding facility and any offenders who receive an extended sentence of any kind will be transferred to another location. Housing units may be dormitory style for minimum security, where they are permitted to have one small lock to secure their clothing and hygiene items, while others with higher security need will be housed in double or single cells.

Medical care, healthy meals, exercise, mental health services, laundry, cleaning, and recreational activities are all provided throughout incarceration.
