About the Clark County Jail

The Clark County Jail was built in 1990 with a rated capacity of 174 beds. Since then the jail, has added modular units to bring it up to its current capacity of 258 units. The jail, combined with the Sheriff's Office, totals 96,000 square feet, the size of grocery store.

The Clark County Jail is now well over 30 years old, and at a certain point, heavily used buildings such as jails start to break down. The plumbing, electrical and the overall construction needs constant repairs. There was talk in previous years of combining resources with neighboring Greene County to built a 500-600+ inmate bed regional jail that they could share responsibility for, but it never got off the ground, and early in 2023 Greene County moved forward with building a $61 million, 250-bed jail, replacing the one they currently have.

The four-story concrete structure sits on the same block, adjacent to the both the Clark County and the Municipal Couthouses, making the transporting of inmates to and from court, more secure.

The Clark County Jail is located at 120 N. Fountain Ave in Springfield Ohio 45502. It can be reached 24 hours a day by calling 937-521-2080. Inmates can be looked up online on the Clark County Jail Inmate Roster and provides the public with mugshots, criminal charges, bond, booking numbers, and other personal information. On the top left corner of the inmate listing is a link called 'Jail History'. This allows the public to view the inmnate's pervious arrest and conviction history in Clark County. Some of these inmates have pages of arrests.

Focused on rehabilitation and programming that will help inmates to become active and productive members of society upon release, the Clark County Jail offers many services. There is a program to obtain a GED, drug and alcohol treatments, mental health services, and religious supports. The OIC, or Opportunities for Individual Change, creates opportunities for developing new skills and resources to maintain a healthy life. The intent of this program is to reduce poverty and improve access to education.

Mail can be received every day and is processed and passed to the inmates quickly. Friends and family of inmates in the Clark County Jail can arrange to visit inmates by video, both at the jail and remotely from home. Friends and family can also communicate using an online text/email system, send them money and buy them commissary online, and set up a phone account that allows the inmates to call them during the day and evening seven days a week.

Clark County Jail uses Securus Video Connect for Remote Inmate Video Visitation.

Video Visitation allows 'approved' friends, family members, attorneys and clergy of an inmate to connect with them using their computer, Securus Video Visitation app, or ‘on-site’ kiosk.

Steps:
Register and/or log in.
Select the facility of your inmate.
Review the days, available hours and the cost of remote and on-site visits.
Schedule your visit.

What is the Cost of a Remote Video Visit?
Costs vary and are subject to change, but generally visits range from $5.00 to $15.00 for a 15 to 30 minute online or on-site video visit.

How do you know if your Inmate will be available during the time you schedule?
The Securus system knows the times that Clark County Jail inmates are available for remote video visits.
It will not allow you to schedule a visit with your inmate if they are not available or the video visitation kiosk(s) in the jail are booked already.
Once you schedule a visit with your inmate they will be notified of the date and time of the visit.

Important Tips:
Your entire visit is being monitored and recorded. Do not say or do anything that you would not want being replayed in court.
You should schedule your visit, in advance, at a time that works best for you.
For best sound quality, use earbuds or headsets.
