About the Robeson County Detention Center

INTERESTING FACTS about the Robeson County Detention Center: It was opened in 1992 and has a capacity to house 412 inmates, but it is way overcrowded, with as many as 480 inmates in custody on some days. There have been talks to replace this outdated jail for many years but the funds have never been allocated to build it. A body scanner was added recently to help cut down on smuggling drugs into this facility. This jail tends to fail inspections often. Roberson is home to the Lumbee Indian Reservation, and as you scan the inmate roster, you will see that the inmates are over represented by Native Americans.

Providing emotional support for someone who is incarcerated at the Robeson County Jail is critical to their well-being. Even short visits via remote visitation can be critical for them in getting through the ordeal of being incarcerated. They may have medical needs to inform you of, or they may have complaints about the way they are being treated by the Robeson County Detention Center staff.
