About the Huron County Jail

Falling under the supervision and operation of the Huron County Sheriff’s Office, the 110-bed Huron County Jail is in the same complex as the district court and directly across from a large parking lot. All offenders who are arrested on a misdemeanor or felony in Huron County will be housed at this jail as they await their hearing or their bond to be paid, and as they serve a short sentence of less than 12 months or wait to be transferred to an alternative facility for a longer sentence.

Upon intake, the booking process is completed, which includes a medical screening, fingerprinting and mugshots, DNA sample, along with an assessment to determine security needs, medical needs, mental health requirements, and housing assignment.

All inmates are provided with basic necessities including food, clothing, bedding, and housing, along with recreational time and activities, opportunities to improve social and life skills, and the ability to communicate and have visits with their friends and family.

Mail can be sent to inmates, as well as used to send checks or money orders for the account of an inmate. The US Postal Service delivers to the Huron County Jail every weekday and outgoing mail is picked up before lights out, with all mail needing a return address and being addressed to the building directly at:
