The Aroostook County Jail looks just like all the other brick houses on the street, through extensions and long connections, the back of this building connects to the back of the courthouse that faces the street around the corner.
Housing all of the inmates who are arrested and sentenced in the county, the Aroostook County Jail accepts both male and female inmates within and houses them in separate housing units. It is a full service facility and provides programs to address addictions and substance use, provides counseling and support groups, ensures access to basic education, and other programs along with church programs that will provide support for rehabilitation and successful reentry.

All mail is opened and inspected for contraband to remove the opportunity for contraband to get into the building, and it must have a full address as well as the full return address.
Phones are funded by friends and family with an account online, and visits can be booked in advance the same way. Phones are only able to make outgoing calls for safety reasons, and inmates can access visits and calls with people who are not currently or recently incarcerated, who are not restricted by an order of protection, and who was not charged in the same case.
