It is at the Sumner County Jail that both felony and misdemeanor offenders from Sumner County will be booked, await their trial, and serve their sentence.

Any cash bonds must be paid onsite, or a bail bondsman may be used. To determine if someone is in the jail and their bail the jail may be contacted by calling 620-326-8943 or the online listing may be accessed at any time.

Medical care and dental care are both provided from arrival until release, and inability to pay is not a block to receiving care. Any paperback books can be mailed directly from the retailer or publisher only. Other items are not permitted to be taken or sent to the jail.

Commissary funds may also be used to purchase phone time and allow for not only collect calls to be made but also prepaid calls, through the phone banks that are found in each housing pod.

Each inmate will create a visitor list of up to 5 people who they will have visits with, and only those people are able to attend visiting hours.

Visits are available onsite for male inmates Saturday and Sunday 8:00am-11:00am and 6:00pm-9:00pm while female inmates have visits Saturday and Sunday 1:00pm-4:00pm and Monday 6:00pm-9:00pm. Inmate Money Accounts

How Do You Deposit Money for an Inmate in the Sumner County Jail?

There are FOUR options for putting money on an inmate's books:

Option 1 - Dropping Money at the Jail
Bring money to the jail in person.
Either the jail personnel will process the Inmate Account payment or you will use a Jail ATM self-serve kiosk in the lobbies that accepts cash, debit or credit cards.

Option 2 - Deposit Inmate Money Online
Sumner County Jail uses Jail ATM to process all online deposits to an inmate's account. The company charges you a small fee for doing so, but the fee probably isn't as much as gas and parking would cost to take it to the jail in person.

Option 3 - Mail the Inmate Deposit to the Jail
Mailing a deposit takes more time to process than the other methods but can be done if you live too far away to bring it in person and you don't have a debit/credit card for online deposits. Never send cash. Always send a Money Order from the US Post Office, a reputable bank or Western Union. Call the Sumner County Jail first as they may want you to do this online or at the jail kiosk instead.
Make the Money Order out to the inmate's name and put their Inmate ID# in memo section of the Money Order.
