About the Boone County Jail & Detention Center

Boone County Jail & Detention Center is located at 5800 Law Drive, Harrison, AR 72601 and can be contacted by phone at 870-741-8404. The jail has a capacity of 103 beds. There are 22 staff members supervising inmates.

Located within the Jail and Law Enforcement Center and surrounded by empty land, the Boone County Jail & Detention Center houses up to 103 offenders who have been arrested on either a misdemeanor or a felony and are waiting for their trial or a transfer to another location with only those serving a short sentence remaining to serve it.

General information is provided by staff via calling 870-429-1406 and an online access is provided for checking the status of all inmates.

As a newer building, it has advanced technology and security measures and ensures that the safety of the staff, inmates, and community are protected.

Full services are provided to all offenders including immediate and ongoing medical and mental health care, healthy meals and exercise, and programs to provide tools for successful rehabilitation. Strict rules are in place surrounding contact with those who are not incarcerated including only immediate family being able to visit, restrictions on contraband and items that are sent through the mail and monitored phone calls.

The facility houses inmates from all of Boone County and is currently overcrowded with an insufficient number of beds. Inmates have reported unconstitutional conditions of confinement.

It has been reported that drug-related criminal charges are common amongst inmates, and in fact the majority of inmates are in the jail due to drugs.

Commissary services are available for inmates on a weekly basis, and the facility also offers an inmate search service.

Immediate family members can visit an inmate three days per week: Tuesdays, Wednesday and Saturdays. The visiting hours are 9:00 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. Extended family members and friends are not permitted to visit, and immediate family members who do visit must be able to show a valid picture ID.

Imates can only receive money orders made out to the Boone County Sheriff's Department, and the Department processes the payments for the inmates, as long as the inmate's name is on the money order.

Although visits are quite restricted, phone calls are very available to inmates as long as they can make a collect call or buy phone cards from the commissary. A benefit is that each cell has its own telephone.

All mail must be sent through the Postal Service, delivered once each weekday, and must be addressed to the correct location:

Inmate Money Accounts

How Do You Deposit Money for an Inmate in the Boone County Jail & Detention Center?

There are two options for putting money on an inmate's books:

Choice 1 - Deposit Inmate Money Online

Boone County Jail & Detention Center uses CommissaryDeposit.com to process all online deposits to an inmate's account. The company charges you a small fee for doing so, but the fee probably isn't as much as gas and parking would cost to take it to the jail in person.

Choice 2 - Mail the Inmate Deposit to the Jail

Mailing a deposit takes more time to process than the other methods but can be done if you live too far away to bring it in person and you don't have a debit/credit card for online deposits. Never send cash. Always send a Money Order from the US Post Office, a reputable bank or Western Union.

Make the Money Order out to the inmate's name and put their Inmate ID# in memo section of the Money Order.

**Call 870-429-1406 first to ask Boone County Jail & Detention Center if this option is still available.
