About the Cochise County Main Jail

Cochise County Main Jail is located in Bisbee's metropolitan area across from the Bisbee Justice Court. It has a capacity of 160 inmates and is supervised by the Cochise Sheriffs Department.

The facility holds pre-trial detainees and those awaiting sentencing, as well as offering services for juveniles. The jail can house up to 250 inmates and has 4,400 bookings per year with a daily average of 220 inmate. There are generally about 55 staff members.

Public visits may be scheduled online and visitation hours are Monday through Friday 10am to 2pm, Saturday and Sunday from 7:00 AM- 4:00 PM and Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday from 12:00 PM – 9:00 PM. All visits are non-contact and conducted through a glass partition.

Inmates may receive letters in any quantity, delivered five days per week (Monday through Friday), except on federal holidays. The Cochise County Health Department provides in-jail mental health treatment, including meds prescribed by a psychiatrist via video monitor.

Inmates are incarcerated at the jail for crimes ranging from violations to misdemeanors to felonies. They have access to phones in their cells and all meals are approved by a dietitian. Common area tables are made of solid steel with attached four seats.

The Sheriff’s department calculates what percentage of a felony jail sentence an inmate will serve, with a minimum of 85% required by law.

The jail accepts inmates from the US Marshal and ICE where space is necessary.

All Detention Officers have passed a psychological examination, a polygraph exam, a background investigation and a physical examination.
