About the Lauderdale County Jail

Lauderdale County Jail in Florence, Alabama is a medium-security facility with a capacity for 150 inmates. It is located at 635 South Seminary Street and can be contacted 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The telephone number is 256-760-5771.

The facility was built in 1943 and is open for visitation Monday to Friday from 9am to 6pm. Visits are non-contact and conducted through a glass partition. The jail houses individuals who have been arrested by local police departments or who have been sentenced to serve time in the county jail. Video visitation is available. The jail is part of the Florence, Alabama judicial district. As of 2018, the Violent Crime Rate in the area was 268.

It is operated by the Lauderdale County Sheriff's Department and holds adult male and female inmates who have been arrested by local county or municipal law enforcement. The jail is named after Colonel James Lauderdale of Tennessee.
