Clay County Jail in Alabama is a medium-security detention center located in Ashland, Clay County. The facility was established in 2022 and is equipped with 490 beds to accommodate inmates awaiting trial or serving sentences.

The Jail is managed by the Clay County Sheriff's Office and provides basics such as meals, medical care, recreation, and visitation for inmates. The Jail also utilizes the Securus Digital Mail Center to process all incoming mail for inmates.

Clay County Commission unanimously approved a resolution in 2022 citing that new structures are a necessity for the jail. The Jail staff has a long record of excellence and strives to provide a safe and secure environment for both inmates and staff.

The Jail has a capacity of roughly 136 inmates. The facility is supervised by 92 staff and provides basic necessities for those incarcerated. It has two facilities with a total capacity of 150 inmates, including the Clay County Jail in West Point which houses 193 female inmates and the Clay County Jail in Ft. Gaines which houses 150 female inmates.

Any magazines that contain profanity, weapons, pornography or other content that is adult in nature will be confiscated by the jail staff and will NOT be delivered to the inmate.

The Clay County Jail allows books to be mailed directly to the jail from a reputable source such as AmazonBarnes & Noble or Books-A-Million. You can order them directly from your computer and have them shipped to the inmate at the address noted.
